Virago the show dog

Finished 2003 with five Hound Group placements in a few months of shows.

In 2004, he had many more Hound Group placements , a Specialty Best of Breed, and an all breed Best in Show. He finished the year as #3 in all-breed competition and #8 in breed, shown only 8 months.

In 2005, Virago was BOB, Best Bred By Exhibitor, and placed in the BBE Hound Group at the AKC/Eukanuba Invitational Tournament of Champions. In 2005, he was awarded Best of Breed at the Midwest Borzoi Club Specialty in Detroit, by breeder-judge Dr. John Reeve-Newsom. He finished in the Top 5 in breed, and in the Top10 All-breed competition, shown about 30 times.

He continued showing on a more casual basis, consistently winning in the Breed and Group, including two Group placements and Best in Veteran Sweepstakes at the National Specialty in 2009, a few days before his 8th birthday. He is the center of attention at all times in our household, now at age nearly ten. His latest litter was born just before Christmas 2010.

Vir has effortless side gait and the carriage and attitude we treasure. He is an ultimate "party dog" and thinks that a dog show is just that.

His brief class career included three majors, and two Sweepstakes wins.

Virago the sire

Virago has sired thirty nine American Champions, and three Group winners so far, out of 12 different dams, with others close to their titles. He was the top producing Borzoi sire for 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. He also has Champion get in Australia and Canada.

Virago the runnin' fool

Very fast and agile on the field, Virago finished his ASFA F.Ch. in the first trial of 2004. His AKC Field Championship came in June with a 4th major making him a Dual Champion.

Virago keeps us endlessly entertained with high energy, keen intelligence and cooperative attitude with people and dogs. He has been our joy since he was a tiny puppy, very much a male version of his famous mother.
