Grand Champion Bronze & Dual Champion

Sylvan Pimlico

CDX, BN, RE, SC, BCAT, CGCA, CGCU, FCh

Pico caught our eye as a baby puppy, strongly resembling his grandsire, Virago, at the same age. He grew quite evenly, and earned a major on his first outing at 7 months.  We showed him mostly on Specialty and supported entry weekends resulting in Reserve at Midwest Borzoi Club the day after the National, and a finish in Virginia the day before the Potomac Valley Specialty in October of 2015.

Lure coursing is Pico's favorite activity, and his tremendous athletic ability has earned Field Championships in both AKC and ASFA . He is a Best in Field winner, and has been among the top few coursing at the National for the last three years, winning BOB at the 2018 National field trial.

Pico has become our all-purpose sport dog. In obedience, we wet our feet with Rally Novice and Beginner Novice title work. In the Spring of 2017, Pico qualified in four Novice B trials, earning class placements of first, two seconds, and a third. Rally Advanced title came in August, including one perfect score and a placement.

He proved his versatility at the 2017 National Specialty, winning the Triathlon (coursing, obedience and conformation scores) in excellent competition. The last Sylvan Borzoi to do that was Ch. Sylvan Triton, CD, FCh in 1991.

Pico is currently in Utility obedience training, and recently earned his CDX with two 1sts and a 2nd place for his three legs.  He's also working on higher lever Rally exercises, and enjoys learning at any level. The treats aren't bad either....

With so much time put into the other sports, Pico had not been in the specials ring, other than two National Specialties. That changed in

July 2017, when we took him to Houston for big Borzoi competition. Pico earned 4 majors there, and two more the next weekend in Atlanta to finish a Grand Championship.  In the Fall, Pico placed 2nd in a strong Hound Group, and was Best of Breed at both the Potomac Valley Borzoi Club Specialty and the supported entry the day before.

In a couple of early weekends in 2018, Pico won several NOHS Hound Groups, two NOHS Bests in Show and one Reserve Best.  In the Fall, he was shown twice for the final points to finish the bronze level Grand Championship.

On St. Patrick's Day 2018, Pico became a father, with a son and a daughter born to Ch. Sylvan Marisol.

In August,  he was handing out cigars for 15 puppies from Can Ch/Am GCH Sylvan Elance Summerlane's Limelight.
