Pekoe caught my eye on the Florida Winter Circuit in 1979 where her owner, Betty Denman of Astafiev Borzoi, had brought her to compete. I was entranced, as I was already waiting for a puppy from the repeat breeding. Betty allowed me to show her at a couple of the shows on the circuit.

Shortly thereafter, rather than waiting for a puppy, I was able to make Pekoe my own along with the generous friendship of Betty and Don.

Pekoe finished quickly, at a time when Borzoi entries were strong. She followed kennelmates Sascha and Cheddar into the obedience ring where she earned her title in three trials. Her overall quality and linebred pedigree made her a wonderful asset as a foundation bitch.
She had a litter of three in 1981, sired by BIS Ch. Majenkir Wotan of Foxcroft. My show puppy, Sylvan Serpentine, tore his cruciate ligaments at 6 months, spoiling his chance at the show ring. He did, however, earn a CD like his mother.

in 1981, Pekoe was bred to her nephew, Ch. Astafiev Majenkir Mikiev, producing the Sylvan "Ch" litter. Their success in multiple venues earned a Register of Merit award for Pekoe, and a place in 1980s Borzoi history.
